As Medical Speech-Language Pathologists, it's imperative that we have an understanding of the influences of the body systems on swallowing... and the potential influences our recommendations might have on our patients' body systems.

Adopting this whole-body approach will greatly improve your practice as a MedSLP, and will help you to provide better patient care, skilled SLP services, and appropriate referrals to other specialists. This information is directly applicable no matter how new or experienced a clinician is, and now matter the setting an SLP is working in.

This unique course teaches SLPs the why's and how's of incorporating a body systems approach to caring for patients with suspected dysphagia. Participants will learn essential knowledge for the SLP, how body systems function and interact, and how to incorporate this knowledge into patient care. Functional implementation of this approach is applied through the use of a case study that is infused throughout the course.

After this course, you'll be able to:

Time-Ordered Agenda
38 minutes: Dysphagia Detective Part I: Essential knowledge for the SLP; Case history
54 minutes: Dysphagia Detective Part II: Body systems
17 minutes: Dysphagia Detective Part III: Interview, Clinical Swallow Evaluation, Conclusion
