CAMPs are Clinical Applications Mentoring Programs where you get the benefits of mentoring and the convenience of self-paced learning. Case studies and practical application are incorporated throughout the five self-paced modules and two group mentoring calls.

CAMPs are intimate and only held 1-2 times a year. Don't miss out on our next CAMP Acute Care, March 1-31, 2025! Early bird pricing ends February 13.

Here's why SLPs love CAMP Acute Care:

  • Manageable modules: Five on-demand modules broken down into segments to complete at your pace prior to mentoring calls, plus one year of access after CAMP Acute Care is over.
  • Mentoring: Two group mentoring calls with Brooke Richardson to answer your questions, build connections with your cohort, and apply course concepts to your own caseload.
This CAMP's calls are held Thursday, Mar. 13 at 7:00-8:15pm ET and Thursday, Mar. 27 at 2:00-3:15pm ET. These are recorded for your convenience, but you're encouraged to attend live for the best experience!
  • Clinical Tools to Keep: References and guides to use at work, comprehensive handouts, and the CAMP manual -- plus access to the 40+ page Acute Care Survival Guide.
  • Fluff-free Education: 14.5 hours of continuing education (registered for 1.45 ASHA CEUs).
  • Digital badges: earn a digital badge for every section you complete & each call you attend live (new for 2025!).
  • Ongoing Support: Complete CAMP and you'll get one free month of access to SLP Mentor in My Pocket

Frequently Asked Questions

This virtual CAMP is designed for SLPs & students who appreciate the convenience of self-paced learning but who also learn best with mentoring and interactive learning methods. It's really, really helpful for people who also benefit from being held accountable so that procrastination doesn't kick in!

CAMP is not for people who can't commit to the program timeframe or for people who want self-paced learning without the mentorship program. In that case, I recommend a self-paced course or specialty track instead.

There are many benefits of joining a CAMP!  To name a few:
... way less expensive than traveling to attend a live talk, or for other online mentoring programs
... engaging, interactive learning through live mentoring calls
... CAMPs use a "flipped classroom" model, which can help you retain the information better (source)
... on-demand modules can be completed at your pace
... more in-depth learning, with clinical applications and calls to action
... networking and making connections with SLP colleagues
... and so many more!
... read more about CAMPs here.

Generally, CAMP runs for a calendar month. Each CAMP is broken down into manageable on-demand modules and two live mentoring sessions.

You'll have an additional 2 weeks from the last official day of CAMP to complete any remaining lessons, the survey, and the form for a certificate and ASHA CE reporting.  Effectively, you'll finish the course in 6 weeks or less!

The number and length of on-demand modules varies depending on the CAMP topic.  Most modules are 2 hours or shorter.

Live calls are usually about every 2 weeks during CAMP, and each call is ~1 hour 15 minutes long.

When you sign up for CAMP, you'll have one-year access to the on-demand modules after CAMP ends. This way, you can revisit lessons at your own pace even after you've graduated from CAMP.

Brooke Richardson, MS, CCC-SLP runs every CAMP.  Brooke is an American SLP--  still practicing!-- who has been caring for adults with complex medical needs since 2009, and has started numerous communication and swallowing programs in the ICU & acute care settings. Thousands of SLPs around the world trust Brooke's no-nonsense advice and real-world perspectives. You can read more about Brooke here.

As a practicing clinician and trusted mentor, Brooke noticed a huge gap in SLP education, things like:

SLPs not having enough mentorship during or after the education process; lots of boring or fluffy continuing education courses; no carryover of what was learned in a classroom; expensive certifications; and lost income when traveling for in-person courses. SLPs deserve better!

Why not get the benefits of mentorship with the convenience of online learning?!

Thus, Modern MedSLP CAMPs were born.

What I can guarantee is that you'll be given the tools, education, and support you need to understand the CAMP topic and get you well on your way on the path of competence.

Nope! And honestly? You don't need those things to practice! You do get a certificate of completion for every CAMP and every course you take. Most, if not all, of my CAMPs and courses are also registered for ASHA CEUs; see the details on each page.

Life happens. If you sign up in good faith and an emergency happens, please send me an email right away so I can help to make accommodations for you, which may mean extending your access to modules without ASHA CEU reporting. Please don't wait until after CAMP has ended to contact me.

YES! I offer mentoring outside of CAMPs.

A great option is the asynchronous mentoring program, SLP Mentor in My Pocket. You can join this any time, if space is available.

If you want 1:1 mentoring -- or just to ask questions about a challenging case you have, send me an email to see if I have expertise that meets your needs. If so, we'll take it from there!  My rates are $75 for a half-hour of my expertise. You can read more about mentoring here and learn more about my clinical expertise here.
